Paneer Butter Masala Recipe

Ingredients

Paneer (Cottage Cheese): 200 g (cut into cubes)

3 large tomatoes blanched and pureed

2 medium-sized Onions, finely chopped/pureed

1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste

10-12 Cashew Nuts soaked in water and blended into a paste

2 tbsp Butter

3 tbsp Fresh Cream

1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

1 teaspoon Kashmiri Chili Powder

1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala

1 tsp Coriander powder

1 teaspoon Kasuri Methi

To taste salt

Temper

Bay Leaf: 1

Cinnamon stick: 1 small size

Cloves: 2 to 3 pieces 

1 Cardamom

Preparation Method

Step 1: Prepare the Base Gravy

  • Take a steamer and put the butter in it, then pour in the tempering spices (bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom). Cook until the spices are fragrant.

  • After that, add the ginger garlic paste to the mixture and fry it until the aromatic odor disappears.

  • Include the onion purée and fry until the onions turn dark brown.

Step 2: Add Tomatoes and Spices

  • Add the tomato purée and cook on low flame till the fat separates from the sides.

  • Then turmeric powder and red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt are added and mixed well.

Step 3: Enrich the Gravy

  • Add the cashew nut paste and mix in for the creamy consistency.

  • Pour in a ½ cup of water and cover allowing the gravy to simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Add Paneer and Cream

  • Then gently add the paneer pieces in a hot box inward to the gravy.

  • Put the fresh cream and kasuri methi which has been crushed in the palms in for flavor.

  • Simmer the heat and let it cook for 2-3 more minutes.

Step 5: Serve Hot

  • Drizzle with a dome of cream and scatter a few coriander leaves on the rim.

  • Enjoy it steaming hot with naan or roti or yasai gohan for a wholesome meal.
